In 2297 a small Startfleet Science Vessel, the USS Sato NCC-1739, under the helm of Captain Jolena Vickers, has been sent out to the edge of Federation Territory, near an area controlled by the Tychovian Prosperity Sphere.
Over the last months, the Tychovian Prosperity Sphere had made some aggressive moves against the Federation — after having been denied membership. Several Starfleet Officers had been bribed to steal information and to act against Starfleets and in addition the Federations interests.
Among them the USS Innovation’s Communications Officer Jason Brink. As a result, the USS Innovation now undergoes ‘extended reconfigurations’ as its crew undergoes extended scrutiny by Starfleet Intelligence. Except the Betazoid science officer Kenna Lerado, who was surprised by being reassigned to the USS Sato instead. Also reassigned — if not unexpected — was Lerado’s childhood friend V’Lorr, a Vulcan operations officer, whose recent past at Starfleet had been troubled.
Among crew members newly assigned to the USS Sato, a rare Iotian Starfleet enlisted of the name Caroline Vratsian could been found. Her family name curiously aligns with the name of that man who allegedly was very successful in getting Starfleet officers to betray their oaths.
Is the USS Sato just ‘a fish, dangling at the end of a hook’, as Captain Vickers fears?
Star Trek: Prosperity plays during »The Lost Era« during the late 23th century, 30 years after the events on the original USS Enterprise. The year is 2297.
